The first day of year 2009 is not only the new beginning for a new journey, but also our friend, Phoebe’s birthday. She booked a chalet at Downtown East to celebrate her birthday, and I am glad that I was invited to share the joy with them.

I cannot imagine what kind of weird idea we would have, to buy such a ‘thoughtful’ birthday gift for Phoebe. Being her friend, we understand that she uses lots of tissue daily. So, we were thoughtful enough to buy her lots of toilet rolls, tissue papers, kitchen towels and even disposable panties for her birthday. We ensure that she would have a regular supply of ‘paper’ for the next half year. We were even crazy enough to wrap up the whole thing together into a human-like figure inside Tampines Mall. We attracted a lot of attention from the children as we busily tried to ‘scotch-tape’ everything together at the staircase just beside Delifrance. Seriously, this was the first time I am so insecure and embarrassed. But, it was fun.

It is totally crazy to bring such a thing to Downtown East! Anyway, we went there by bus. So, you could imagine how people would react when we carried such a ‘big’ thing around. In fact, I would not be surprised if the bus driver demands to check our ‘present’, it was way too suspicious.

The catered food was very nice. I still cannot believe that I am still eating turkey even though Christmas was way over. How weird that some people even eat turkey during New Year? Our class people hanged around inside the room playing the game ‘bridge’, watching television programme, chatting with one another and more.

Calista, Joanne, Pohee, Wendy and I then went to join the countdown party at Downtown East, with the special appearance of Gary Cao Ge. The countdown party was fun and I totally enjoyed myself. Since there were not a lot of people there, so we were able to squeeze as close to the stage, taking a clearer view of the performance. I simply love Gary’s hair! His hair is simply so cool! Wendy and Pohee even got the opportunity to shake Gary’s hand, so I guessed they are not going to wash their hands for the next few days! I am so glad the last and first few people I saw were these people! Love you guys a lot!

After that, we went back to the chalet to celebrate Phoebe’s birthday. We bought a lovely fruit cake for her, and sprayed her with lots of … … Even though I did not tried the cake, I know that it surely taste good. I guessed you know why.

Later, the 7 of us (Phoebe, Naquiyah, Calista, Yvonne, Joanne, Pohee and I) went to catch a midnight movie ‘Ip Man’. I would say that this is a great movie and it definitely worth watching. I would rate this movie with 4 out of 5 stars.

I cannot believe how Naquiyah, Phoebe, Yvonne and Calista have the abilities to play ‘bridge’ throughout the whole night! But trust me on that, none of them are mentally sound after that. I guessed the 4 of them must be sleeping like mad right now!
