An ex-classmate tagged me with this photo on Facebook.
It’s true that this photo did bring me lots of memories I had in my secondary school life. Perhaps, most are not very good ones. I would say that the teachers are awesome ones! I would never forget how the teachers there motivate me to study and work hard. Without them, I could probably end up in a polytechnic right now. My experience in Chinese Orchestra is totally awesome, probably the best. However when it comes to classmates, there are exceptions. It’s during the secondary 4 years which turns out to be a horror for me. I lose confidence in friendships when some people turn to betrayal and back-stabbing. Thanks to some of them, I became pessimistic; I no longer let people ‘in’ to my life. Things got worse when I start to have problem coping in my freshman year in college. I fell into depression.
It’s during the time I suffered from depression which allows me to experience true friendship. I would never forget how the people around me such as my classmates who showered me with lots of care and concern. I find it unbelievable how friends I barely know for a year can go to that extend to care for me. It’s also the people in church who go the extra mile to help me through. To all these people who have helped me ‘I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart’.
It’s because the help I have received which brings me to where I am so far. It may seem nothing or small, but it means a lot to me. It’s these people who gave me the courage to live, to believe, to trust and to smile. I’m already on my way to total recovery, so there is just two more months for me to receive my open statement from the doctor.
Thank you for helping me to step out from the darkness.
